The pattern is: Tone Tone Semitone Tone Tone Tone Semitone The arrangements of the major scale is the reason why the piano's keys are organize the way they are. The piano's keys are organized around the C major scale. This means that there is one note in between each note. C to D is an example of a tonal interval. Semitone (Half Step)- a Semitone is a half step interval in music. This means that the two notes in the interval are directly adjacent.
